Bucks Lead

The Wickedest Freak of the East

As LeBron Steps Out, Giannis Steps Up

Free agency in any sport is an exciting time for any fan, but the dramatics never cease when it comes to the NBA. This summer’s free agency has had many moves, but none more talked about than LeBron James’ decision to take his talents to the city of angels and join the LA Lakers. It seemed we all knew this was coming, but as fans of the purple and gold celebrated, Bucks fans everywhere now know one thing, that being Giannis Antetokounmpo is the best player in the Eastern Conference.

The likes of Kyrie Irving and Joel Embiid still exist, and are for sure the players to keep a close eye on once the 2018-2019 season begins. But to say that they are above Giannis on the best player scale, is a joke. As Fox Sports’ Nick Wright said, “Not only is he the best player in the East, but I do not think it is an argument, I don’t think it is particularly close.” Now, I don’t always agree with all that Mr. Wright says, but this statement is what everyone should believe when it comes to the Greek Freak. Antetokounmpo’s ability on the court is one that teams in the league have yet to figure out how to stop, and when you have a player like that, the argument isn’t close.

The Claw Heading North Brings Speculations

News breaking that San Antonio superstar Kawhi Leonard had been traded to the Toronto Raptors had some immediately jumping ship on the Giannis being the best player in the east conversation. For some to do so, so quickly, is laughable; they clearly have not been paying attention. Not to take away from what Leonard has accomplished. At his best, he is still one of the top two-way players in the league. The thing is though, we haven’t seen that player in over a year. With battling a mysterious injury and  escalating tensions with management, we don’t truly know if Kawhi Leonard will play, if he plays for Toronto at all. With that uncertainty, all we can do is still look at the Greek Freak with stars in my eyes knowing the type of performance we will get this season and the campaign for MVP is never out of the question.

Giannis Brings It All To The Court

Everyone now knows that Antetokounmpo is a freak of nature that has the ability to match up with anyone on the court. From a powerhouse taking it to the rim, to his extraordinary length that can bring the best opponent to their knees, it’s hard to say what Giannis can’t do. His shot will always be his one spot where someone can point to as a flaw, but as shooting has excelled in this league as the only way to win, Antetokounmpo keeps proving that his way is just fine. Milwaukee and the Bucks’ organization cannot ask much more from Giannis. All we can do is sit back and watch how his own personal hunger to be better has catapulted him to one of the top players in the league.

Sit Back And Enjoy

As fans of number 34 and the Bucks, we all know what can happen when the Greek Freak steps on the floor. It isn’t shocking anymore, just mesmerizing. People around the league can say what they want, but deep down they all know the truth. To leave Giannis out of the conversation of the best player in the Eastern Conference isn’t just wrong, it is plain disrespectful. It is not my job or anyone else who agrees with me to change their mind on how Giannis’ abilities are perceived, he will do that all himself. Whether by pure force or by being magical on the hardwood, he is soon going to make everyone believe and I will just sit back and know that us in Milwaukee knew it all along.
