Players React to Embiid-Towns Scuffle & Post-Game Beef

The Philadelphia 76ers extended their perfect record to 4-0 during Wednesday night’s 117-95 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves. Joel Embiid led the Sixers in scoring with 19 but was ultimately ejected in the 3rd quarter after his role in a scuffle with Timberwolves’ big man Karl-Anthony Towns.

Embiid and Towns have always had a friendly rivalry whenever they meet each other on court, but during the game, however, a frustrated Towns took a swipe at Embiid just six minutes into the 3rd quarter. The brash Embiid reacted and the scuffle between the two led to an MLB-style, bench-clearing moment for both teams involved.

Ben Simmons can also be seen during the skirmish putting Towns in a headlock that would make UFC Lightweight legend and Philly native Eddie Alvarez proud.

Numerous NBA players took to Twitter to express their opinions/interest on the scuffle.

The two big men continued their beef on social media following the game, giving us some post-game content to inject into our veins.

Safe to say Rudy Gobert enjoyed the post-game theatrics.

As a result, Towns and Embiid were both ejected in a game that had virtually already been decided with the Sixers up by 20 at that time. Tobias Harris led the Sixers in rebounds with nine due to Embiid’s abrupt departure. Furkan Korkmaz also had a notable night from the field posting 17 points on 50% shooting from the field as well as 37.5% shooting from behind the arc.

The two team’s next meeting isn’t until March 24th, 2020 in Minnesota. Only time will tell if these players have squashed their beef, or if we’re going in for Round 2.
