Yet another year and Dwight Howard just can’t stay still within an organization. Granted, that’s not up to him. However, this next adventure to another NBA team could very well be the most enticing move in favor for Dwight.
Per Woj:
Charlotte is finalizing a deal to send Dwight Howard to the Brooklyn Nets for Timofey Mozgov, league sources tell ESPN. Nets will save $17M on deal in 2019-20 season, allowing them to create two max salary slots.

This allows the Nets to keep D’Angelo Russell, Spencer Dinwiddie, Allen Crabbe, and Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, who have all been solid young players the past few seasons. The Nets also have veteran players in DeMarre Carroll and Quincy Acy. Not that any of these veteran guys are standout studs, it’s the fact that the nets are able to save $17 million at the end of this upcoming season. Could the Nets trade Dwight at the deadline? It seems like Howard will keep that trend going for him for the rest of his career. For now, lets see how he’ll fair with a great young point guard in D’Angelo Russell and see what free agents the Nets can surround the two with.
Dwight Howard has been a defensive player of the year, had 30 points and 30 rebounds in a game, and has been to the NBA finals back in 2009. He averaged 16 points and 13 rebounds last year with Charlotte and is still trying to figure his game out. It doesn’t seem like he’ll make much of a difference on the court, but will Kenny Atkinson have the answer? We’ll see.
