Bucks Ink Ex-Laker Brook Lopez

The Bucks made their second free agency splash Sunday afternoon, inking former Nets standout Brook Lopez, Jordan Schultz of Yahoo Sports broke via Twitter.

The BAE (Bi-Annual Exception) allows teams below the salary apron to sign a contract beginning at $3.29MM.

This is a solid move for Bucks General Manager Jon Horst. Lopez is a proven scoring center who has averaged 20+ PPG in four seasons with the Nets. He left the Nets for the Lakers last season, taking a step back from being a top option in Brooklyn, averaging just 13 points, four rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.3 blocks per game. In the past two seasons, he has expanded his game to the three-point land, where he hits at a respectable 35% clip.

This signing is also a steal for the Bucks, as Lopez made a whopping $22.6 million last season in LA. Expect Lopez to jump right into the starting lineup, filling much needed rebounding and defending voids.

Lopez averages 17.9 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.7 blocks and 1.6 assists over 31.2 minutes per game for his ten-season career.
