Knicks Lead

Barrett Looking Forward to Calling New York Home

With the NBA Draft approaching in the next 10 days, many teams prepare their franchise to gain players in hopes to improve the team.

Knicks Eyeing Barrett

On June 20th, 2019, the New York Knicks will get the opportunity to change the momentum of their organization. Landing the third overall pick in the NBA draft, the Knicks and Duke star RJ Barrett appear to be a soon connection. The young phenom from Duke has not met with any teams other teams besides the Knicks following the NBA combine.

As the draft slowly approaches, sources say Barrett will return to New York City this week to have a scheduled workout with the Knicks. This will be Barrett’s first scheduled workout with an NBA team and more than likely his last.

The Knicks have been eyeing the Duke star since they lost out on the No. 1 pick in the draft to the New Orleans Pelicans last month. Barrett’s former teammate, Zion Williamson, is almost guaranteed to be heading to NOLA.

Barrett, who is does not shy away from pressure and has a great experience putting the ball in the basket, would be an amazing selection for the Knicks. Barrett was only a freshman at Duke and chose to leave the Blue Devils after his first year. He showed a lot of potential and proved that he has the ability to play at the professional level during his freshman season.

RJ scored 860 points as a freshman, joining an elite collegiate group of Kevin Durant, Trae Young and Michael Beasley as one of just four players in Division I history to score that many points in a single season. Shows a glimpse of what he can bring to the table.

NBA Draft

As the Golden State Warriors and Toronto Raptors battle out the remaining minutes of the NBA season, many have began to anticipate where 2x NBA champion Kevin Durant will end up. Despite the potential catastrophic injury, the city of New York likely is still hoping to see him in a Knicks jersey, teaming up with Barrett next year.

If everything goes as planned, RJ Barrett will be the next budding star to bring hope to Madison Square Garden.
